Hayes Grooms
III - President and Director of Auditing and Review Services
After graduating Cum
Laude from Dillard University in 1974, he joined the International
public accounting firm of Arthur Anderson & Co. While at Arthur Anderson
& Co. he was assigned to the audit division and was involved with
companies in many types of industries.
In 1975, he was
chosen, by the partners of Arthur Anderson & Co. to attend a special
three month summer accounting workshop at the University of Georgia. He
remained at Arthur Anderson & Co. for approximately three years before
resigning to accept a position with the National Bank of Detroit as an
Audit Senior. He was assigned to the affiliate bank audit group and was
responsible for the direct administration of independent bank
examinations through assignment planning and supervision of assistants.
The affiliate bank audits were made in accordance with Generally
Accepted Auditing Standards, which consisted of giving an opinion on the
financial statements. In addition, an opinion was given on the operating
procedures and system of controls. He also evaluated findings, developed
constructive control recommendations and concluded on the adequacy,
efficiency and effectiveness of the system of controls and the quality
of on-going operations. He resigned from the bank as an Assistant Audit
Officer in 1983. Before forming his firm, he was employed at the First
Independence National Bank of Detroit as Vice President and Chief
Financial Officer. In addition to his other financial responsibilities,
he was responsible for the preparation of the Bank's Asset/Liability
Management Committee. The objective of the committee was to manage
assets and funding sources to produce results consisten with the bank's
liquidity, capital adequacy, growth, risk and profitability goals. He is
a Certified Public Accountant and holds a B.A. degree in Accounting from
Dillard University in New Orleans, Louisiana.
Raven C.
Evans - Director of Church Law and Risk Management
Raven started his career in the safety and security department of Chrysler
Corporation in 1974, where he gained years of experience in Risk
Management. He investigated personnel injuries and reviewed those
operation controls for safeguarding assets and the company handling of
confidential information. Raven has studied church laws and the new
legal reality of Church Litigation.
Raven believes that
Church leaders must take seriously the need for preventive care and that
a risk management audit can assist in that process. Raven has developed
an expertise in Risk Management audits which included the following
three steps:
- Examination
- Diagnosis
- Treatment
He also believes that a commitment from Church management must exist to
provide the safest possible environment for the church, the staff and
the individual members.
Raven joined the firm
in 1987 as a Management Consultant. He holds a Masters degree in
Business Education from Wayne State University in Detroit, and a J.D.
from Woodrow Wilson College of Law in Atlanta, Georgia.
